1. Introduction
Welcome to WouldSwipe. This Privacy Policy explains how WouldSwipe collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our website, Android app, APIs, and related services (the "Service").
WouldSwipe helps users test dating profile photos by uploading photos, receiving ratings, and rating other users' photos. Because photos and profile details can be personal, you should only upload images you have the right to use and are comfortable submitting for rating.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information needed to operate and improve the Service:
- Account information: name, email address, password hash or third-party login identifier, age, gender, account settings, login history, and credit balance.
- User content: photos you upload, original file names, photo metadata created by the Service, ratings and scores you give, ratings and scores your photos receive, and deletion records.
- Payment and credit information: selected credit package, Stripe checkout/session identifiers, payment status, purchased credits, earned credits, spent credits, and credit transaction history. We do not store full card numbers.
- Device and usage information: IP address, browser or app activity, pages or screens used, API requests, approximate timestamps, diagnostics, and security logs.
- Communications: messages you send through contact forms or support channels and emails we send about the Service.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your data to:
- Create and manage your account.
- Display uploaded photos to eligible raters and show your ratings and results.
- Operate the credit system, including earned credits, spent credits, purchases, and fraud prevention.
- Authenticate users, secure accounts, prevent abuse, enforce limits, and investigate suspicious activity.
- Provide support, service notices, security alerts, and product updates.
- Analyze usage, debug problems, improve the website and Android app, and develop new features.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. We may share information in these limited situations:
- With other users: uploaded photos are shown to eligible raters. Your public account identity is not intended to be shown with photos in the rating queue, but ratings and aggregate results are part of the Service.
- With service providers: vendors that help with hosting, storage, analytics, authentication, payment processing, email delivery, security, and customer support.
- For legal and safety reasons: if required by law, legal process, or to protect users, the Service, or our rights.
- Business transfers: if the Service is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets.
- Aggregated or de-identified information: we may use data that does not reasonably identify you for analytics, product improvement, marketing, or research.
5. Data Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including authenticated API routes, password hashing, access controls, file validation, and transport security where configured. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
We keep account information, uploaded photos, ratings, credits, transactions, and security logs for as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and enforce our agreements. Deleted photos may be removed from active display immediately, but related records may remain in backups, logs, or deletion/audit records for a limited period.
7. Cookies, Local Storage, and App Storage
On the website, we may use cookies and browser storage for login sessions, preferences, security, analytics, and performance. In the Android app, we may store authentication tokens and app state locally on your device. You can clear local app data through your device settings, and you can control browser cookies through your browser settings.
8. Your Choices and Rights
You may access and update some account details in the Service. You can delete photos from your account where deletion is available. You may contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or other privacy rights available under applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.
9. Payments
Payments are processed by third-party payment providers such as Stripe. Payment providers process payment details under their own terms and privacy policies. We receive limited payment status and transaction information needed to credit your account and maintain records.
10. International Use
Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live. Those countries may have different data protection laws. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.
11. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page.
